Nurse Practitioners (NPs) are highly skilled clinicians with graduate or doctoral-level education and extensive clinical experience, preparing them for advanced practice. They provide care both independently and as integral members of inter-professional teams in hospitals, outpatient clinics, and community settings. NPs are versatile health care professionals who diagnose, treat, prescribe, refer, and manage patient care across the lifespan. In Alberta, the NP role continues to expand, increasing access within the health system and enhancing the care experience of all Albertans through collaboration, innovation and high-quality clinical leadership.
