Union, Associations, & College

Nurse Practitioners in Alberta are regulated by the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) and supported by professional associations — the Nurse Practitioners Association of Alberta (NPAA) provincially and the Nurse Practitioners Association of Canada (NPAC) nationally. Those employed with Acute Care Alberta (ACA), Primary Care Alberta (PCA), Recovery Alberta (RA), Assisted Living Alberta (ALA) or Covenant Health are represented by the AUNP, which advocates for fair employment, equitable compensation, and professional respect. Together, these organizations form the framework supporting Nurse Practitioners’ professional, regulatory, and workplace needs. The infographic below, developed by NPAC, clearly outlines the distinct roles of each organization. The AUNP strongly encourages its members to engage with both NPAA and NPAC, as each plays a vital role in advancing the profession, promoting collaboration, and strengthening the voice of Nurse Practitioners across Alberta and Canada.
