The NP Staff Rules are a set of guidelines used to govern the day-to-day clinical management of Nurse Practitioner (NP) employees within Alberta’s four public health agencies (PHA). These rules create a clear, shared understanding of expectations; define clinical responsibilities & accountabilities in alignment with other independent professionals; ensure safe quality patient care; optimize role utilization and NP integration; and are a required step in the utilization of NP Most Responsible Practitioner (MRP) practice. NPs are responsible to review and remain informed regarding new or revised NP Staff Rules which are applicable to them.  Follow the included link to guide you to Insite where a complete and up-to-date version of NP Staff Rules and NP Staff Rules FAQs are available.  Within this document the roles of  MRP and NP Most Responsible Healthcare Provider (MRHP) are defined. If you have any concerns as to how these rules are being applied in your specific clinical setting, please reach out to Union leadership.
