Why are there two types of CNPS insurance?
NPs are required to purchase Professional Liability Protection insurance through CNPS when we renew our license. The Supplementary Protection Program offered by CNPS is optional coverage that provides expanded legal assistance if you are subject of an investigation with an entity that regulates nursing practice.
Do I renew my Mandatory CNPS and my Supplementary CNPS at the same time?
No. The Mandatory CNPS insurance required by CRNA is renewed at the time of your registration renewal while the Supplementary CNPS insurance is renewed on an annual basis with the change of the calendar year.
